Things to Do on Spring Break in OKC

Spring is coming…and none too soon. With it comes spring break. If you’re an anxious parent in the Oklahoma City and Edmond areas, Beacon Homes has ideas to help you cope with the scary combination of boredom and energy that appears in your children when school isn’t in session.

Get out of the house

If you’re able to take the time to go places with your children, here are some spring break activities in the area.

OKC Zoo Day Camp: Mysteries of Mythical Creatures

March 18-22

Children between the ages of 4 and 11 will experience a truly unusual day at the zoo, worthy of a Harry Potter fan. Your children will learn about the lore of legendary beasts, like the unicorn and meat-eating plant (“Feed me, Seymour!”).

Oklahoma City Thunder Basketball Camp

March 18 & 19, Broken Arrow

March 22, Norman

Treat your hoopsters to a day camp to sharpen their fundamentals and learn about teamwork, sportsmanship, and respect. The 4-hour camps are open to children between the ages of 6 and 14.

Oklahoma Children’s Theatre Spring Break Camp

March 11-15 and March 18-22

Spark the creativity at this 5-day experience. Children have fun with various performing arts, including music, magic, and more. Class size is limited and welcomes children from ages 5 to 13, separated into age groups.

Spring Thing at Oklahoma Hall of Fame

March 12-16 and March 19-23

“Free” and “fun” are magic words for any parent, so head to the OK Hall of Fame for both during spring break. Enjoy craft activities, movies, story time, and pick up some pretty interesting facts about our most celebrated Okies!

Spring Break Escape at Sam Noble Museum

March 18-22

Mix fun with education (but don’t tell the kids they’ll actually learn something). The Sam Noble Museum will expose them to an exhilarating menu of activities that will entertain and amuse them.

Oklahoma Youth Expo

March 13-22

The world’s largest junior livestock show comes to State Fair Park for its annual festival, celebrating hard-working youth—dedicated members of 4-H and FFA who carry on Oklahoma’s agricultural heritage.

Have a spring break staycation

If you’d rather stay close to home during spring break, you can offer many diversions for your children. Encourage them to get creative and active at home. Maybe your community has hiking trails to explore and green spaces to have a picnic. Beacon Homes’ Monarch Ridge community in Edmond’s Deer Creek area is just the place for your family to have some outdoor fun. Send the children on a scavenger hunt in the yard or around the neighborhood, or get them started on some spring planting.

Community service is always a good experience for people of all ages. Ask your kids to put together donation boxes to help kids who are less fortunate, and bring them to a local shelter or church to learn more about the children they’re helping.

Spring break isn’t just time off from school for your kids. Use the time to reconnect and introduce them to something new. Look for activities you can do together and new places to explore.

Beacon Homes invites you to come to Monarch Ridge during spring break so you and your family can see what’s happening here in our community. We have a selection of new construction, single-family homes that are move-in ready. Choose from 3 to 4 bedrooms, all affordably priced from just $239,900. Very soon, your kids could become part of this friendly neighborhood as well as benefit from the unmatched quality of the Deer Creek School District.
