The Value of Living in Jenks, OK

Take an 8-mile drive from Tulsa and you’ll end up in another city—albeit a small one—that just happens to be one of the best places to live in the entire state of Oklahoma. Beacon Homes wants to share the value of living in Jenks, OK, just in case it’s still a secret.

Jenks, with a population currently hovering around 16,000 people, pops up on one “Best Places” list after another. HomeSnacks rates Jenks as #1 in Oklahoma. Niche and The Crazy Tourist ranks it #2 in the state (just behind Edmond) but Niche gave top honors to Jenks as the “Best Suburb to Raise a Family in Oklahoma”. AreaVibes and Movoto and Livability placed this small-town city in the top 10 of “Best Places to Live in Oklahoma”. NerdWallet put Jenks as #6 on “Best Towns in Oklahoma for Young Families”.

What are all these reviewers raving about?

Since Beacon Homes began building in Yorktown, our first community of new construction homes in Jenks, we’ve come to know this little city. And we’ve learned why living here is a great choice.

If you like the friendliness of the small town lifestyle, explore Historic Downtown Jenks. In addition to the eclectic array of shops, antique stores, and local eateries, you can enjoy a wide variety of events throughout the year. Trick-or-Treat Main Street is a family favorite, along with the Easter Egg Hunt, Holiday Tree Lighting and Christmas Parade. Locals look forward to the 4th of July Freedom Fest, annual Dirty Dog 5K and Fun Run, Summer in the Park Community Cookout, and Herb & Plant Festival.

The RiverWalk has something for everyone—shopping, dining, events, entertainment, events, and even the nearby River Spirit Casino. Walk or ride your bike along the Arkansas River, sit in an outdoor cafe, attend an outdoor concert, and play anything from shuffleboard to golf.

Down the road from The RiverWalk, the Oklahoma Aquarium in Jenks is so much more than you might imagine. Run as a non-profit organization, the aquarium is a reflection of our supportive community. Outstanding exhibits include a walk-through tunnel surrounded by the world’s largest collection of bull sharks and Sea Turtle Island, a 56,000-gallon tank encircled by a boardwalk and presenting views from underwater and up above.

Plus, the school system here in the area is top-notch. If you want to give your children the advantage of quality academics and teachers who are committed, come here. Yorktown is in the Bixby School District, and students living here attend Bixby Central Elementary, Bixby Intermediate, School, Bixby Middle School, and Bixby High School, which earned a perfect score from GreatSchools. Bixby High School has a 99% graduation rate and the students demonstrate standardized test scores that soar above the state average. Builders just broke ground on Bixby West Elementary and Intermediate Schools, which will serve our community starting in 2020.

You’ll never be bored in Jenks, unless you want to be. The quality of life here really must be experienced. Beacon Homes invites you to take a look around this small but exciting city. Be sure to stop by and see us at Yorktown, especially our award-winning home.
