2019 Design Trends in Our Model Homes

Style comes and goes. And not just in clothing fashion, but home as well. From appliances and fixtures to wall colors and fabrics, trends change. At Beacon Homes, our designers stay on top of the colors, materials, and other details that reflect the latest home styles. You can see the 2019 design trends in our model homes throughout the Tulsa and Edmond, OK, area.

Perhaps the space that sees the most change from year to year is the kitchen. Cabinets, countertops, backsplashes, appliances, and fixtures are impacted. Quartz countertops, for example, have gained popularity. This engineered stone (97% crushed quartz, 3% resin to bind it) isn’t porous, so it doesn’t need to be re-sealed periodically, like granite does. In addition, you can order a color and pattern and receive what you requested, because it’s manufactured. With granite, what you see in a design center is a sample—a representation—and the actual stone will vary.

Our new kitchens are showcasing the latest color palettes, a blend of soft neutrals with splashes of color. One of the continuing trends is a contrast in the center island with the rest of the kitchen cabinets, or choosing one color for base cabinets and another for the upper ones. We’re also using glass doors on upper cabinets so that homeowners can display their decorative pieces—from colorful pottery to vintage cookbook collections.

Tile continues to make a statement, from the backsplash to the floor and walls. Challenge us to create a kitchen backsplash that shows off your unique style. And then let’s look at patterned tile in other areas of your home, including the bath.

Champagne isn’t just for celebrations. The color reflects the latest trend in plumbing fixtures. Champagne bronze is a pale gold that brings elegance to a full range of Delta faucets, shower heads, and accessories. The soft color works with any decor style, including rustic farmhouse and contemporary. The versatility of the matte black finish continues to appeal to interior designers and homeowners alike.

In 2019, interior designers are also finding brilliance in new lighting fixture trends. Kitchens are still aglow with pendant lights, but this year, expect to see more of the bulbs. Clear pendants are showing off the intriguing detail of Edison bulbs. Also try suspending the lights at different heights to keep up with the latest style of asymmetry.

Chandeliers are taking on a different look, too. Geometric shapes complement the interior lines in today’s homes, from the ever-popular farmhouse to classic and contemporary home designs.

If you lean toward the industrial look, you’re still au courant. The distinctive lines and materials continue to hold their place in the decor world, although with a bit more refinement when it comes to light fixtures.

Decorative trim transforms a room. Crown molding, corbels, and other treatments can seem like small details, but this custom woodwork truly makes a statement, when used with the right balance in your home. Doorways, islands, entries, stairways, and other spaces become architectural statements with a little extra woodwork.

Speaking of woodwork, Beacon Homes loves the impression that comes with ceiling beams. Choose clean lines or rustic to suit your taste, but either one adds definition. Keep it natural or paint the beams to blend with the ceiling. No matter which you prefer, you’ll discover that beams are worth the investment.
